WHY BUSINESSES SWITCH

Four reasons people change cleaners

Reason #1

Standards that fade after the first few weeks

A good start that slowly slips is the most common complaint about commercial cleaners. We work to a written checklist and back every clean with timestamped photo reports, so you can compare one month with the next.

Reason #2

Cleans missed when someone is off sick

Staff absence cover is part of the service. If your regular cleaner is off sick or on holiday, cover is arranged so the clean still happens.

Reason #3

Not knowing who has keys to your building

You should know who is on site and that they have been vetted. We only work with cleaners who hold their own DBS checks, we can provide evidence on request, and key and alarm procedures are agreed at onboarding.

Reason #4

A vague scope and surprise extras on the invoice

Your proposal sets out in writing what is cleaned, how often and when, so the scope is agreed before you commit.

ENDING YOUR CURRENT CONTRACT

How to end the contract with your current cleaner

General guidance only: always check your own contract terms before you act, and take advice if anything is unclear. We cannot tell you what your agreement says. For more detail, read our full guide to switching commercial cleaning companies.

1 Find your agreement and read the notice clause. The notice period, and how it is counted, is set out in your contract. It is usually written in days or months, so find the exact wording before you tell anyone anything.
2 Check when notice starts to count. Some agreements count from the date you give notice. Others run to the end of a rolling term. That difference decides your real cut-off date.
3 Give notice in the way the contract asks. Contracts often specify written notice to a named address or contact. Follow that wording and keep a copy, so there is no dispute about the date.
4 Look at the breach and remedy clause. If cleans have been missed or the agreed standard has not been met, your contract may allow a different route out. Check the clause, and take advice if you are unsure.
5 Ask about staff transfers. In some cases, cleaning staff on your site may transfer between contractors. Ask both your current and incoming provider to confirm in writing how it applies to you.
THE HANDOVER

What a handover looks like

After the site survey we can mobilise fully briefed cleaning teams within 48 to 72 hours, but the start date is yours to set around your notice period.

Survey before you decide

We visit, look at the layout, floor types, access hours and building rules, and you decide with the full picture in front of you.

Scope agreed in writing

The proposal sets out what is cleaned, how often and when, so you can compare it with what you have now.

Keys, fobs and alarms

Access procedures are agreed at onboarding and followed on every visit, with cleaners who hold their own DBS checks.

A start date that fits your notice

We plan the first clean around when your current contract ends, so there is either a clean cutover or a short overlap, whichever you prefer.

First clean checked against the checklist

Walk the site against the same checklist that every future clean is measured by, and use the photo report from the first visit to confirm the standard.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Frequently Asked Questions about Switching Cleaners

How do I switch commercial cleaning companies? ↓

Check the notice terms in your current contract, then ask the new provider for a site survey and written proposal. Agree a start date that fits your notice period, hand over keys and access, and walk the first clean against the checklist. Our step-by-step switching guide covers each stage in detail.

How much notice do I need to give my current cleaner? ↓

It depends on your contract, so check the notice clause in your own agreement. The wording and the way the period is counted vary between providers. This is general information, not legal advice, and our guide explains what to look for.

Will there be a gap in cleaning when we switch? ↓

Not if the handover is planned. We agree a start date that matches the end of your current contract, either as a clean cutover or a short overlap. The switching guide sets out both options.

How quickly can a new cleaning company start? ↓

After the site survey, we can mobilise fully briefed cleaning teams within 48 to 72 hours. When you actually switch is usually decided by your current notice period, so we plan the start date around it.

When is the best time to change office cleaners? ↓

Many businesses review suppliers in January, when budgets and contracts reset, and a quiet spell such as the Christmas closure can make a handover easy. The best time is whenever your notice period allows, so check your contract first.
